Abstract

" Digital" is defined here as new technologies whose technology ultimately reduces it to binary code. These details have facilitated and accelerated the reproduction and sharing of many cultural artifacts. The first section of this paper deals largely with population and globalization. The second section examines the general use of digital technologies and their consequences for different population groups around the world Rather than isolating the impact of digital technologies, comprehensive ethnography represents one of anthropology's most important contributions, demonstrating that we can only understand new digital worlds within the context of broader social relations and practices. Rather than attempting to judge digital technologies as positive or negative, anthropology can also focus on their inherent contradictions
