Abstract

Levinas'positiononthephenomenologyofintersubjectivehusserlianismisconsideredafundamentalfocusofhismoralphilosophy.CentraltoHusserl'sphilosophyistheconceptofintersubjectivity,whichreferstotherelationshipbetweenindividualsandsharedexperiencesthatarisethroughsocialinteraction.Levinasarguesinhisworkthatintersubjectivityisnotjustacognitiveorempiricalprocess-asdemandedbyHusserl-,butafundamentalmoralresponsibility.Accordingtohim,intersubjectivityisnotlimitedtoasimplemeetingoftwopeoplebutincludesdifferentiationandtranscendence,inwhichoneisalwaysresponsiblefortheother.Thisideaoftheradicalotherchallengestraditionalconceptsofintersubjectivityandopensupnewhorizonsforrethinkinghumanrelationships
